Kosovo*

Kosovo is a potential candidate to the EU. The alignment with European standards in the area of environment and climate change remains at an early stage and the implementation and enforcement of existing legislation should be enhanced.

The Implementation of the climate change strategy is still at an early stage. Administrative capacity and awareness-raising need to be strengthened considerably at all levels.

Although Kosovo is not a signatory to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and therefore does not have a nationally determined contribution under the 2015 Paris Agreement, full implementation of its climate change strategy should serve as a guide to achieving the objectives of the Agreement.

The main beneficiary institution of the TRATOLOW project in Kosovo is the Ministry of Economy and Environment.
