The TAIEX TRATOLOW Study Visit for Serbian ETS Experts to Croatia was successfully conducted on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 June 2023 in Zagreb, Croatia. This highly anticipated event brought together experts from the Serbian Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Serbian Environmental Protection Agency for an immersive learning experience from the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Croatia, the Croatian Accreditation Agency and the Croatian Environmental Protection Inspection.
During the study tour, participants had the invaluable opportunity to learn firsthand from experienced Competent Authority in Croatia who have successfully implemented the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). The tour covered a wide range of essential topics, including the implementation, permitting processes, registry, monitoring plan review, annual emissions report review, verification and accreditation, and ensuring compliance.
The engaging sessions and interactive discussions provided participants with deep insights into the practical implementation of the EU ETS. Member State experts from Croatia shared their experiences, best practices, and lessons learned, enabling the Serbian participants to gain a comprehensive understanding of the operational aspects of an ETS system. Attendees had the opportunity to network, share their own experiences, and establish valuable connections for future cooperation in the field of environmental protection.
This study tour has significantly enhanced the expertise and capacity of the Serbian Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Serbian Environmental Protection Agency in their journey towards the successful implementation of the ETS. The knowledge gained and the training materials provided will serve as valuable resources for future endeavors in Serbia's environmental initiatives.
