TRATOLOW National Workshop on Implementation of Climate Change Law in Kosovo*

The TRATOLOW National Workshop supporting formulation of secondary legislation to the Climate Change Law and discussions about further development of the decarbonisation strategy in Kosovo* took place 20-21 June in Pristina, Kosovo*.

The workshop aimed to support representatives of the Kosovo* Ministry of Environmental Protection and Infrastructure in implementing the Climate Law. Additionally, supporting the inter-ministerial working groups on the Climate Law and on CBAM in further implementation of their climate policy. The focus was placed on ensuring the understanding of the possible impact and requirements for national introduction of carbon pricing and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).

Participants consisted of experts from from the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development as well at the United Nations Development Program, the National Institute of Public Health and the University of Pristina, all supporting the implementation of climate legislation.

The workshop had active discussions on both days and led to a significant increase in understanding all developments in EU climate policy and the possible impacts for Kosovo*. It gave a boost to the working group on CBAM and helped the experts from the different Ministries to understand the next steps needed in the implementation and possible further update of the national Climate Law.
