The TRATOLOW Domestic Workshop on ETS Accreditation and Verification, Scope 98 for Türkiye, took place online via MS Teams on May 15, 2024. The workshop aimed to support representatives of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change in implementing emissions trading by training participants from several Ministries involved in establishing the ETS, as well as the National Accreditation Body TURKAK on AVR scope 98. A total of 43 participants engaged in the online training.
The workshop provided a general introduction to the legal framework and specifically on the scope 98 verification and accreditation. The TRATOLOW experts highlighted the difference between the MRVA compliance cycle and the allocation compliance cycle, detailing the distinct technical requirements and additional competence criteria.
The morning session concentrated on MRV of allocation, while the afternoon session addressed verification and scope 98 accreditation. The latter session aimed to cover the accreditation of verifiers under scope 98, a topic previously unaddressed and requested on short notice for inclusion in the TRATOLOW project.
Participants were very active and eager to learn, enriching the workshop with their questions and interactions. The training was prepared in close consultation with the representative from the Directorate of Climate Change of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change and resulted in useful information for advancing the implementation of ETS.
