Components

Component 1 – Support implementation of commitments under the Paris Agreement and the EU Climate and Energy Framework 2030 & 2050 long-term strategy

Results to be achieved:

• Regional awareness of the outcomes and provisions of Paris Agreement and the legislative proposals under the 2030 Climate and Energy Framework and Energy Union Strategy increased
• Development and implementation of regional policies and strategies to align with low emission pathways supported

Component 2 – Capacity Building on Domestic Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventories, including Strengthened Legislative Framework

Results to be achieved:

• Upgrades of domestic GHG monitoring and reporting practices supported and the Regional GHG inventory web portal maintained
• Cooperation with European Environment Agency (EEA) continued and intensified

Component 3 – Strengthened Monitoring, Reporting, Accreditation and Verification Requirements Targeted at Operators, Authorities, Verifiers and CSO under the EU ETS

Results to be achieved:

• Strengthened monitoring, EU ETS reporting, accreditation and verification (MRAV) requirements targeted at: operators, authorities and verifiers

Component 4 – Support to the National and Regional Adaptation Planning and Actions

Results to be achieved:

• Increased domestic and regional climate change resilience through improved regional and domestic adaptation planning and actions
• Cooperation with European Environment Agency (EEA) continued and intensified

Component 5 – Compliance check of Legislative Acts

Results to be achieved:

• Compliance checks of selected legislative acts performed

The activities of the project are implemented through the system of Working Groups.
