TRATOLOW Regional workshop - Beyond the NECPs development – what is to be done once the plans are adopted in Albania

On July 2 and 3, 2024, the TRATOLOW project hosted a regional workshop in Tirana, Albania, titled "Beyond the NECPs Development – What to Do Once the Plans Are Adopted." During the workshop, TRATOLOW beneficiaries discussed with the European Commission, EU Member States and TRATOLOW experts the best practices and approaches in achieving the NECP objectives, different targets and their contributions. Special focus was put on international obligations and monitoring and reporting in compliance with obligations.
Expert speakers from various European institutions and Member States provided participants with a diverse experience and informative presentations. Topics included Europe's 2040 climate target, obligations and current state with regard to obligations to the Energy Community, EU Member States' reporting experiences, available data and information sources, reporting tools and definition of indicators relevant to TRATOLOW beneficiaries.
Additionally, the workshop included group discussions to identify gaps and challenges in developing the current NECP, NECP reporting and possible solutions. These discussions focused on overcoming obstacles and identifying opportunities in the energy transition planning process, particularly in decarbonisation efforts.
Both participants as well as the experts were able to gather important insights and TRATOLOW beneficiaries left the workshop with better understanding and knowledge for their journey towards NECPs.
